Chrysalis
Chrysalis: A 4-month group mentorship for ages 10-14 navigating puberty and menstruation
Growing up, many of us were not taught how to be in an empowered relationship with our body and menstrual cycle. So much of the narrative around menstruating’ bodies is restrictive, controlling, disconnected, and fearful. The ways in which we try to care for ourselves is often misguided by misinformation. Media and schools often miss the mark when it comes to teaching how to properly nourish the body, failing to teach about the beauty and power in taking ownership of our cycles, intuition, and magic. When I started studying herbal medicine, I learned how to work with my body and menstrual cycle to care for my mental and emotional health and be more deeply in touch with my intuition.
This is why I created Chysalis! Chysalis is a 4-month group mentorship to empower and support young people (ages 10-14) and navigating their menstrual cycle and puberty.
Together we will:
Learn about the basics of the menstrual cycle as the “6th vital sign” and its role in all aspects of mental, emotional, and physical health.
Explore herbs to balance the endocrine and nervous systems to support painful periods, acne, and anxiety.
Work with herbs for navigating insecurities and untying shame around our changing bodies.
We will explore the different archetypes and phases of the cycle, and how the physical hormonal cycles influences our social, creative, athletic, and imaginative selves.
What is included:
2x monthly gatherings, which will be a combination of classes, herb walks, medicine making, and workshops including yoga and somatic voice.
A different herb each month to work with in different forms

Movement and Medicinal Plants: Befriend Your Anger
Description
Anger is not the enemy, it is a totally normal response that deserves to be recognized and respected just like our joy or sorrow. Herbalist Mercy, and Banana Yoga owner Marlo, will share how to befriend and move your anger through your body using plant medicine, and different movement practices. Marlo will guide you through movements that will help create space for the emotion of anger and help you move energy through your body so anger doesn't stagnate. Mercy will share how plant medicine can create the space, and tenderness for anger to move and be cooled. Your anger is like a mud from which a lotus of compassion can bloom, if only we give it the container it needs so it does not spread. Mercy Tyne, a clinical herbalist, currently practicing out of Berkeley Herbal Center.
